They are simply different. They also elicit different responses from people. Often, when folks see the "a" at the end of Tabitha they can help but place me in a binary gender box. T. or T.J. encourages folks to resist the unnecessary rendering of folks based on a given name. Tabitha is not a name I selected for myself.
